Gayle Arnold:
www.gaylearnold.com
Since I could hold a paintbrush I have been creating. I attended Emily Carr University of Art and Design to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in 2009. Art has completely consumed my life since then. My work comes in a wide variety of subject matter but for the last few years some of my best works were Figure paintings. I challenged myself to paint the human form and never looked back. Each piece has a life and story of its own. I love colour, I love movement, and I love gesture. I love beautiful things, whether it’s a great song or movie, a poem or painting. Creating is as essential to me as breathing.
Gayle is also part of a two piece band made up of vocals and guitar. Their songs are family friendly and they do covers and original songs. You can hear them here (these recordings are from when they were a four piece) www.reverbnation.com/thestrangestdays

Janice Beaudoin - "Silpada Jewelry":
www.silpada.ca
Silpada was founded by two best friends and that friendship has inspired a culture of women empowering women all over the world.
Their bond, fused by Sterling Silver Jewellery, has become a model for a globe-spanning, stereotype-shattering, fun-loving group of independent Representatives known as the Silpada sisterhood. The notion of our Customers, Hostesses and Representatives getting together with the girls to try on and buy jewellery seems so simple, but a Silpada Party does much more than lift your spirits and update your look. It’s the reason the phrase “Changing lives one Party at a time,” rings so true.
About Silpada Foundation The true spirit of Silpada Designs has always been one of giving. To further Silpada’s mission of empowering women to better themselves, design the life of their dreams and live life in style®, the Silpada Foundation was established in July 2011.
The foundation will benefit carefully selected charities through grants and product donations that embody Silpada’s mission, and is funded by the sales of the Silpada Polishing Cloth and Silpada Foundation jewelry. The goal of the foundation is to inspire positive change for the causes that matter most to Silpada women like children’s health and education and women’s health. So, Silpada women everywhere can feel confident knowing they’re making a shining statement and making the lives of those in need a little brighter (and a lot more Silpada-ish!).

Blue Smoke BBQ:

http://www.bluesmokebbq.ca/
We’re well travelled and seasoned BBQ and Smoker affectionados. Locavore foodies for many years we became serious masters of the art of smoking after purchasing our first pellet fed smoker, where we perfected our southern style smoked pulled pork. The meat is dry rubbed with a homemade spice blend overnight, and is smoked for at least 10 hours over 100% apple wood and other real hard woods such as alder and maple. The result is always fall-off-the-bone goodness. The meat is then mixed with a special homemade BBQ finishing sauce, topped with homemade coleslaw, and served on an artisan Brioche roll.
We’re active volunteers and supporters of urban agriculture initiatives and worked on the creation of the first Community Garden in the District of North Vancouver, ( www.ediblegardenproject.com/) . For some time, we’ve been volunteer cooks at our local seniors’ centre, Parkgate Community Centre, (www.myparkgate.com) The most often requested meal is the Pulled Pork Sandwich. From this modest beginning came the idea of participating in the newly expanded Farmers’ Markets on the North Shore, (www.northshoregreenmarkets.com/) The new Blue Smoke BBQ food concession trailer is a natural extension of our passion for making great food for great people.
The prime ingredients of our Menu, (www.bluesmokebbq.ca/menu) are all locally sourced and the Menu is founded on the principles of sustainability, and seasonality. Our food is fresh, free range animal product with no enhancing or synthetic growth hormones. We’re proud to feature our main suppliers, Two Rivers Specialty Meats (www.tworiversmeats.com/), and our artisanal bakery supplier, Stuyvers Bake Studio, Burnaby. (www.stuyversbakestudio.com/)
Finally, our take away food containers, utensils, napkins and wrappings are all made of compostable materials resulting in a no waste impact at any of our serving locations.

Lina Cutnam:
http://www.linacutnam.com/
Born in Granby, Quebec, Lina's passion for creativity roots back from early childhood, when she was introduced to fashion modeling at the age of five. Before long, she was modifying her own and her friends clothes, personalizing her vision for fashion and helping to bring out individual expression in others.
Later, her drive to succeed enabled her to satisfy the demanding requests of professionals requiring custom designed fashions. Soon after, her collections were sought by exclusive fashion boutiques in Quebec, acquiring a unique reputation that emerged from her very special trademark: reversibility. Everything is reversible! Two coats with accessories for two different occasions!
Residing in Vancouver since 1987, the Canadian West Coast life style and environment has inspired Lina's designs. Her outstanding collection of one of a kind designs, all created with natural fabrics, reflect her passion for life and her love for finely woven fabrics and textures.

Deep Cove Resin:

Folks, you're going to love Carley's works of magic.
Welcome to Deep Cove Resin! I make one of a kind silver plated pendants, buckles and much more. They are filled with vibrant colors or sparkle. Custom images, vintage designs and whimsical silhouettes are what I create. Have a look around there is something for everyone and if not, custom orders are available! Deep Cove Resin was created by me in April of 2010. I found that every time I looked at something local and handmade, the price was way out of my budget. I had purchased a few resin pieces which were quite pricey so I decided to test out the resin for myself. I then decided I wanted to create local art that people could afford to purchase and enjoy. This is what I came up with - affordable, customizable, personalized creative jewelry! I am a mother, wife and work full time, I have always loved arts and crafting and find it to be a very calming meditative thing that I enjoy doing.

Fire and Ash Studio - Jack Ploesser:

Turning clay into pottery and sculpture has been a passion of mine since High School. I work in high temperature and all the work is gas fired. This enables me to use scarlet Copper Reds and pale blue Celadons, but mostly I like to layer the glazes, thereby creating unlimited colours and deep surfaces. I work with stoneware and porcelain and much of the work is altered to create unique pieces. In the gallery you can find a selection of platters and teapots, bowls and mugs, vases and some more unusual pieces.

Smaranda Ionescu:
I was born in Romania in 1985, the daughter of an Engineer (my father) and an English Teacher (my mother). Leaving Romania at a fairly early age, my family moved and lived in Germany until 1994 when we first stepped foot in Quebec. In 1995, my family moved to Toronto where I have spent most of my life. Skipping ahead a few years, the year 2011 marked a drive for drastic change in my life leading me to hop in a U-haul with my partner and two dogs, crossing about 4,000 km - and as of this January we've been experiencing everything Vancouver has to offer!
'Jack of all trades, master of none' - this I perceive to describe me the best. I was lucky that despite my parents' professions, both are very artistically inclined and have blossomed and cultivated me since an early age. Ever since I can remember, I have gone through different 'phases' (as my mother would call them) ranging from drawing/sketching, sculpting, painting, stenciling, carving, braiding...the list is long! Now, at least for the last few years painting has been my 'phase', and I tend to paint whatever I can get my little fingers on varying from glass, canvases, furniture, rocks...even faces! I am what you call an 'in the closet artist' as art, to me, has always been my personal retreat.
The Village Fair II will be my first public experience and I am more than excited to be a part of it! Who knows, maybe you'll find a wonderful gift or treasure...or even get your face painted!

Mari & Billi is a small business venture that was first set up 8 years ago, that provided us with an opportunity where we could express our love of colors, fabrics and funky clothing. Mari & Billi has since then been travelling to India every year and collaborating closlely with various tailors in a small community in southern Rajasthan, developing a Fair Trade relationship with the local community, that has flourished and contributed to the the community through different projects.
The line was named Mari & Billi, after it's founder and the line's cat logo found on the all the clothes you will find on this page. Billi means 'cat' in Hindi: बिल्ली [billi]. The cat on the logo was designed after a wooden stamp found in one of the many markets you find all across India, and we immediately fell in love with it's anomalous & naive look.
All fabrics are hand picked from various materials, such as recycled saris and locally produced cottons. Many of the designs are personally developed to come up with fun, modern & trendy styles infused with the colors & patterns of India.

Joanne Ogilvie:
Joanne Ogilvie is a Vancouver born artist who dabbles in many mediums such as tie-dyes, painting, feather earrings, painted running shoes and crafts.
Jack Olive:
Growing up in Thunder Bay, Ontario in the 40's and 50"s, I spent much of my time drawing, painting and photographing the images around me. In the early 60's, I took some art courses while completing a degree in chemistry and mathematics at Moorhead College in Minnesota. Art came into my life as a fulltime study and career when I arrived back at Moorhead College only to find that the masters program in biochemistry into which I had been accepted had been cancelled. I registered in drawing and graphic design instead and when the instructor for ceramics called out the door of the pottery studio that he now had an opening for me, I found my life's work.
In 1971, I moved to Vancouver and became a founding member and director of the Vancouver Clayworks Society, a 12 member cooperative ceramic studio. In this creative atmosphere I worked with other members of the group to develop methods of applying graphic imagery through drawing, painting and photography to ceramic sculpture and pottery.
The optical effect of stretching graphic images around a circular form fascinated me. Peripheral vision bends what the observer sees at the edges. Ceramic glazes, with their richness and capacity for layering and depth of imagery, give the opportunity to create a mirror of that peripheral view as images bend around the surfaces of the pot.
My work in clay is both functional and decorative. I work with wheel thrown and slab built forms, all fired to cone 1 with over and under glazes. All pieces are food safe and the wheel thrown ones are oven and microwave proof. I have formulated my clay and glazes to fit with a slight compression that prevents crazing and creates a very durable and chip resistant surface.
I now work out of my studio on the Sunshine Coast, B.C. and ship my work to sell across Canada and beyond.

Tie dyed slips by Jackie Brown.
I first tried tie dye in the hall attached to the old library on one of the "teen nights" that were held there for a bit in the early 70's. My psychedelic days never quite left me and out of that my line of tie dye slips emerged.

As eighth generation “Rock Carving Kids’, we have been carving designs into rocks since we were little. The family shop, J.B. Newall Memorials Ltd., started in Dalbeattie, Scotland in 1820, and in 1909 the Newall family came over to Canada, opened up our shop, and has been creating cemetery markers ever since. Rock Yard is the creative spawn of the parent memorial company, but we utilize the same quality and craftsmanship to create “garden curiosities” accessible for everyone. Our engraved rocks are perfect garden or memorial markers. Pick one of our designs up at Farmer’s Markets throughout the lower mainland, or order your very own custom creation. In addition to rocks, we also create one of a kind, hand-stamped herb & vegetable markers upcycling antique, silverplated cutlery. Check out our galleries for pictures! Questions? Custom orders? Stone Haven Gems is located in beautiful British Columbia Canada. You can find us at a variety of gem shows, wellness fairs and festivals around the lower mainland and Vancouver Island. We host 2 sales a year in Vancouver and Victoria to showcase our mineral collection after our buying trips to the gem shows in Tucson and Denver. Sign up for our newsletter to receive invitations to these sales and find out what treasures and adventures we have found.
Our mission is to provide high quality crystals, gems, jewellery and education while treading lightly on our planet by offering minerals that have found their way to us through ethical practices and giving back.
We offer hand harvested minerals and work with suppliers that have reduced their carbon footprint. In the world of mining there is little fair trade certification and we are striving to create awareness and demand. We operate in a green way with a very small carbon footprint, recycled materials and support of local services. We trade with local jewellery designers and showcase their creations using stones from our collection. We strive to find Canadian minerals that are hand harvested and look forward to further explorations using our own hands!! Our focus is on the healing metaphysical properties of gems and it is important to us that these gems have been handled with love care and integrity.

I was born in North Vancouver, along with my parents and grandparents. Having grown up here
on the North Shore I have seen a lot of changes over the years but Cates Park remains one of
my favourite parks on the north shore.
I took a evening class in jewellery making at a north shore school about 10 years ago ......and it stuck.
Since then I have travelled (for jewellery classes) to San Miguel de Allende, Taos New Mexico . I like the
look of Native American Indian and Mexican style of jewellery but love and appreciate all styles.
My jewellery is all handmade with sterling silver ....sometimes with gold filled, semi precious
and precious stones. I like to think that my jewellery is made for any generations and
stands the test of time.
